We are never more sincere than when writing in a notebook, especially if we are certain that no one will read it more than us. A notebook can contain our diary - which does not necessarily have to be a boring event log - but it can contain much more. Today we will talk about how a notebook can be the place where we gather our past, our present and our future, to know them and get to know ourselves better.
"I use the Pensieve -says Dumbledore-. One simply siphons the excess thoughts from one's mind, pours them into the basin, and examines them at one's leisure. It becomes easier to spot patterns and links, you understand, when they are in this form." (J.K.Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
Past:
A notebook fulfills a function similar to that of Dumbledore's Pensieve: it is a place where we can pour our thoughts and memories to analyze them in detail, putting ourselves in a position of spectators, and thus being able to better understand any situation. Writing down our ideas will help us see them more clearly, and know them better. This will result in the fact that we will later know with certainty how to act in a similar situation, and what response to give at the appropriate time.
Present:
It can also help to free our mind from idle thoughts. We just need to sit down and write for a certain period of time everything that comes to mind at that moment, without censorship, without order or concert ... This is called "automatic writing." Maybe at the moment you want to write you can't think of anything. In that case, look out the window and start writing about what you see. Soon your mind will connect and those idle ideas of which I speak to you will begin to emerge, and perhaps some valuable as well.
Today is a dark day, the sun has not risen more than a little while at noon. I don't like dark days very much. Although it does not hurt a little shade and humidity after so much heat. So much hot these days! I couldn't even think with so much hot. And speaking of thinking, what will be dinner today? Something tasty, I hope, because at this time I'm already hungry. Not like yesterday's dinner, pure steamed vegetables, I'm not a goat! By the way, what will goat's milk taste like?
No, it is not a diary, it is not a record of the events of the day, it is a deposit of our thoughts, especially those idle ones who do nothing but go around our minds distracting us from the current task. Try to release these ideas and nonsense phrases that come to mind in a notebook for a few minutes, at least once a day, and you will see for yourself the difference between a congested mind and a free one of so much useless traffic.
Future:
Is there a better place to plan than a notebook? Whatever we want to plan: our next vacation, a house change, a meeting with friends, a job interview ..., just open a notebook and start writing one or several lists with what we need, clothes we will take with us, the possible places we will go, etc. so that our dream will became a little more real. Weigh your different options, make your budget clear, value what to say and what not to make a good impression ... Nothing will be overlooked if you have taken it well to write it down in advance! As they say, an idea without a plan is nothing more than a dream.
Have you used your notebooks in any of these ways? Tell us about it!
Our Coptic notebooks are ideal candidates to become our private Pensieve. They have 80 completely blank pages inside, ready to receive our ideas, thoughts, memories ...
And besides, they are hand painted, which makes them unique pieces of art. Have you seen them yet?
